A few weeks ago I posted about my first colorwork project, Beauchamp Cowl. It actually took me about four or five days to finish so it really can be considered a “quick knit” in comparison to something larger such as a sweater. The cowl pattern has two sizes available to suit the yarn weight chosen by the knitter. There is an option for a fingering weight version and a DK weight version. Since I was using sport weight (just in between fingering and DK weights) I opted for the DK weight version. Boy was that a bad idea. It’s too small! Mostly because I didn’t take the time to check gauge. So it’s really my fault and well just part of the learning curve when dealing with knitting and yarn choice. I’m still kicking myself because I knew from the get-go that it was going to be a snug fit (I even tried it on after a few rows) but I figured it would at least be still wearable. Not a chance. I can barely pull it over my head. So what to do with this awesome yet unwearable cowl? I still love it, I adore the colors. I want to put it to good use because when life gives you lemons make lemon cake or something tasty, right?
I’ve been thinking of a variety of uses, some better than others. A hand muff, a book sleeve, an iPad holder (I actually don’t have one, but ya know one day). Any thoughts or suggestions? Whatever you got, I’d like to hear it.
