Candlewick and Cloak

In my last post I alluded to a secret project involving this yarn….

These are two skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Candlewick (yellow) and Cloak (charcoal black). I specifically bought these two to test out a project that lived in my head and thankfully someone else had created a chart for. So did anyone guess The Hunger Games? I know the recipient did!

For those of you who have not read or are not familiar with The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins this is the Mockingjay symbol that is displayed on the first book of the trilogy. A work colleague suggested (and kept suggesting) that I read them and I’m so very glad I did. I’m not going to give a review because that’s beyond the scope of this blog but all I can say is I really enjoyed it. It’s not everyday you read something that makes your pulse jump and your heart race. So to thank said work colleague I made her this small pillow (for reviews of YA and children’s books check her blog!). You can find my project notes here and the chart here if you want to give it a go yourself. I spent awhile looking for the perfect yarn and had a gut feeling only MadTosh would have what I was looking for. The fact that the yellow is named Candlewick sealed the deal. Perfection is all I can say. I have plenty of yarn leftover so I’ll probably make myself one soon too. :)
