Technologic (shawl)

I’ve been pretty silent on the blog for almost a month, but with good reason! I have a new pattern available that I just finished earlier this afternoon. Because my knitting time has been cut down I kept having to postpone my release date. My original plan was to release it around my birthday a few weeks ago. Clearly, that came and went so I’m offering a pretty sweet deal for the next few days. The shawl pattern will be FREE until Sunday, March 25th, 2012 7pm central time!! It’s my little way of saying Thank You to the very awesome and nice people who stop by my blog. After that time it will be available for $3.00 USD so get it while it’s hot!! Okay, enough of my rambling, I present to you Technologic (rav link).

I’ve been dreaming about this shawl for a few months and am so glad it’s here in reality! Here’s the specs from the pattern:

Technologic is a lightweight medium-sized shawl designed to showcase simple, modern lines and two coordinating colors of your favorite fingering-weight yarn.

Size US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle – 24 or 32 inch
2 skeins of coordinating colors of fingering weight yarn (1 skein each color)
– Main Color (MC) – approx. 330 yards (301.75 meters)
– Contrasting Color (CC) – approx. 200 yards (182.9 meters)
(sample used Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light {Fingering weight, 100% Merino, 420 yards, Single-ply} in Tern (MC) and Candlewick (CC)
4 stitch markers
Tapestry needle and scissors

Relaxed shawl after blocking: 20 stitches x 40 rows = 4 x 4 inches

I came up with this shawl because I’ve been seeing a lot of chevron patterns around on fabric but didn’t see practically any in knitting designs. It’s so amazing seeing an idea come to life. The shawl itself is super lightweight and soft. It’s hard to go wrong when using Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. Only 1 skein of each color is needed. I think it would even be possible to get another couple of stripes out of what was left over.

The pattern’s name comes from a Daft Punk song that I really like. I was going to link to the video but I think it’s kind of creepy (animatronic things do that) so I’ll let you look that up if you’re so inclined. The pattern can also be found on my Designs page. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy knitting!
